On Monday, April 10, 2023, the Rotary Club of Seville International held a special event at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. This meeting, which was attended by about 50 people, was marked by emotional moments for the attendees, who had the opportunity to introduce themselves in public each for 30 seconds and enjoy a networking session to strengthen ties.
Rotary Sevilla International was honored to receive a visit from District 2203 District Governor Victor Javier Elena, who shared his knowledge and experience with club members. During the meeting, the club president, Ana Garrido, welcomed and pinned five new members who have recently joined the Rotary family. These new members are Valentín Rangel, founder and president of the Solutia group; José Luis Espinosa, elevator businessman; Manuel Marín, labor lawyer at Zurbarán Abogados law firm; Fran Esteban, commercial lawyer at dwf-RCD law firm, and Carmen Loscertales, notary in Alcalá de Guadaíra.
Likewise, presentations of the social work being carried out by the club were made by Miguel Treviño and Luis Prieto, co-presidents of the Projects Committee and also by the President of the Membership Committee and President-Elect 2023-24 Fran Guillén. In particular, on this occasion they commented on the club’s support for the great event that will take place on Wednesday, May 17 at 20:00 at the Cartuja Center in Seville consisting of a musical show called “From Broadway to Hollywood” with top Broadway stars and the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, to benefit the AFAR foundation.
In addition, the club was pleased to name as honorary Rotarians two individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to community and service. Father Manuel Ángel, founder of the AFAR association, which helps the homeless, and José Melero, known for his altruistic work as a personal counselor, were recognized for their dedication and efforts on behalf of others.
The event also featured a presentation by Antonio Castaño Séiquer, who spoke about the important work carried out by the Luis Séiquer Social Dentistry Foundation. This organization is dedicated to providing dental treatment to people in vulnerable situations in several countries in the Americas, such as Peru and the Dominican Republic, as well as in African countries, such as Morocco. In addition, they also develop their work in neighborhoods of Spanish cities such as Seville, Huelva and Jerez, thus improving the quality of life and welfare of the people served.
In summary, the meeting of the Rotary Club of Seville International at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla was a resounding success that further strengthens the commitment of its members to the Rotary motto “Service Above Self”.
