On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Rotary Club Sevilla International experienced a memorable moment at the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba. In an act filled with emotion and solidarity, our president Fran Guillén, along with the tireless club member Sara Soriano and the founder of the Mar Pozo Association for the Smile of a Child, Manuel Pozo, brought joy and hope to the young patients admitted to the hospital.
The donation of an innovative device for detecting veins in children with cancer, funded by our club and supported by The Rotary International Foundation, marked a milestone in our efforts to support the community. But what really made this day special was the presence of association members dressed as superheroes, who brightened the faces of the hospitalized children with their enthusiasm and affection.
The head of service and the head of the hospital ward received us with gratitude, expressing their satisfaction and recognizing the value of the donated device as a crucial tool to improve the medical care of the young patients.
In the words of our president Fran Guillén, “This act symbolizes the heart and essence of our club. We are deeply proud and grateful to be able to contribute to this noble cause, bringing not only advanced technology but also moments of joy and hope to these brave warriors.”
We especially thank the manufacturer of the device, SIFSOF, for providing it to us under special conditions, as well as all the club members who participated in the event that made it possible to fundraise for three devices, including Alberto from Los Compadres who participated selflessly in the event.
This event not only reinforces our commitment to the community but also reminds us of the power of collaboration and compassion. We will continue working with the same spirit of service and dedication to continue creating positive impacts in the lives of those who need it most. Next January, we plan to deliver two more devices to hospitals in Cádiz and Huelva.
