On Monday, February 13, a luncheon was held at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, organized by the Rotary Sevilla International club. Attended by more than 70 people, the event was an opportunity to listen to Juan Marín, former vice president of the Junta de Andalucía and president of the Economic and Social Council of Andalusia, who gave an informative and inspiring presentation on the current economic and political situation.
Ana Garrido, president of the club, welcomed the attendees and introduced the event with a speech in which she stressed the importance of working together to make a positive impact on the community.
Fran Guillen, membership chair and president-elect, also spoke to welcome businessman Christian de Saint Romain as a new member of the club. In addition, Fran explained how to join the club and stressed the importance of having more active and committed members to achieve an even better result.
Miguel Treviño and Luis Prieto, co-chairs of the projects committee, presented the club’s current solidarity projects and emphasized the importance of supporting those who are struggling, with specific mention of the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. During their speech, Miguel and Luis described how the club’s projects are making a positive impact on the community and how attendees can get involved and support them.
During the event there was also a live fundraiser among those present, which generated a total of 1730€ that was supplemented by the club itself to reach 3000€ that will go to help, in collaboration with a Rotary Atakoy club in Istanbul, to buy a kneading machine, a dough sheeter and a bread oven with a daily capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 loaves for Gaziantep, the sixth largest city in Turkey, which has suffered severely from the earthquake.
In conclusion, the event on Monday, February 13 was a resounding success and shows the commitment of the Rotary Seville International club to make a positive impact on people’s lives. With an informative presentation, inspirational speeches and a successful fundraiser, the event was a showcase of the valuable work this club is doing in the community.
