Last Saturday, August 12th, 2023, a warm and special connection was forged on the wonderful beaches of La Herradura, Granada. A select delegation from the Rotary Club Sevilla International visited their counterparts at Rotary Club Granada in a celebration that went beyond a simple meeting: it was an expression of brotherhood and collaboration.
A Convivial Dinner
The night began with an elegant cocktail-style dinner, where members of both clubs enjoyed friendly and inspiring companionship. The sea breeze accompanied conversations about strengthening their ties and working together for the benefit of society. The President of the Seville club, Fran Guillén, received the pennant from the Granada club from Carlos Bocanegra, former President of the Granada club and current delegate of the governor of zone 8. This act symbolizes the unity and shared commitment of both clubs in their mission for a better world.
In the words of Fran Guillén, “this meeting between clubs in a paradise like La Herradura has been a magnificent opportunity to strengthen our bonds of friendship and get to know each other better to start collaborating on social projects together as soon as possible.” In fact, Fran Guillén is a regular in the area due to his passion for diving and has published his book “Paso de Gigante,” the story of which takes place precisely in La Herradura. For his part, Carlos Bocanegra assured that “it is a pleasure to welcome the colleagues from Rotary Club Sevilla International to La Herradura, on the Tropical Coast of Granada, and celebrate a meeting of friendship to establish links of collaboration and synergies between both Andalusian clubs.”
The meeting was not only a moment of celebration but also an opportunity to establish lines of joint collaboration in social projects. Both clubs agreed to schedule a reciprocal visit from the Granada club to Seville this very year, with the goal of receiving the pennant from the Seville club and solidifying their joint work plans.
Scuba Diving Baptism: An Adventurous Touch
And for those braver, adventurous members of the Sevilla delegation, the weekend offered a scuba diving baptism experience on the stunning beaches of La Herradura. A memory that will undoubtedly remain in their memories.
The meeting between the Rotary Club Sevilla International and Rotary Club Granada has been a beautiful example of the fraternity and commitment that Rotary members harbor in their hearts. This event has laid a solid foundation for future collaborations and strengthened the friendship between these two distinguished clubs.
