Last Friday, September 15th, the Real Club de Golf in Seville hosted a meeting of the Rotary Club Sevilla International. With the attendance of over 30 people, the event featured a visit from the Rotary District 2203 Governor, José Ibáñez, and his wife, Inmaculada Navarro.
The meeting was led by the president of the Rotary Club Sevilla International, Fran Guillén. During the gathering, ongoing projects were discussed, and various initiatives were presented. Governor Ibáñez praised the club for its quality growth and for being the most numerous club in Seville. He also highlighted the club’s success in charitable projects and presented the official Rotary pennant to the president.
One of the most emotional moments of the meeting was the inclusion of Jesús Flores, a Sevillian businessman, as a member of the club. With his admission, the club now has 27 members, two of whom are honorary. Taking advantage of the Governor’s visit, Jesús Flores was awarded the Rotary pin, a symbol of his commitment to the club.
During the meeting, and as a demonstration of the club’s and its members’ commitment to charity, contributions were collected through Bizum from the attendees and the club’s own contribution, totaling more than 1000€ intended to help the earthquake victims in Morocco. The club’s vice president, Luis Prieto, in addition to presenting the social actions carried out, emphasized the importance of this collection and its management through the Rotary foundation to ensure that help efficiently reaches those most affected.
Rafael Casal, the club’s secretary, introduced the Impact Mentors initiative. This project, backed by the club, aims to boost impactful projects in areas such as health, climate, education, and disadvantaged groups. Casal encouraged interested mentors to selflessly collaborate with this noble initiative, which they can apply for online participation at this link.
Sebastián Morales presented the treasury report with the club’s current accounts, while Miguel Treviño, chair of the membership committee, explained the process for those wishing to join the club. Francisco Martín launched the section on Rotary educational capsules with a presentation on the MyRotary platform.
It was undoubtedly a day filled with commitments, projects, and the very essence of the Rotary Club Sevilla International. We look forward to the next meeting!
