Last Monday, March 6, 2023, an event organized by the Rotary Sevilla International club took place at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. On this occasion, the paper presented was “Two closures”, a work by the prestigious gallery owner and art expert, Pepe Cobo, who presented it in collaboration with the Consul General of Peru in Seville, Rosario Botton.
The aim of the presentation was to offer a comparative view of women prisoners in two very different contexts: cloistered nuns in Seville and prisoners in Peruvian jails. During the presentation, attendees were able to learn first-hand about the difficulties these women face and how their lives unfold in these different circumstances, as well as how they cope with life.
The event was attended by numerous businessmen and members of the Club Rotary Sevilla International, who were able to listen to the presentation by Luis Prieto, Chairman of the Projects Committee, of the social projects recently carried out by the club, such as the collaboration with ENACH and with the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, as well as the projects which are being developed, such as the collaboration with the association La sonrisa de un niño to improve the hospital facilities for children with cancer, or the musical event in which it will collaborate with AFAR. It was another opportunity to learn more about the solidarity work carried out by the club in its commitment to society and the community.
The event was presided over by Fran Guillén, the club’s president-elect, who will begin his term in June, but who on this occasion replaced the current president. In short, the event organized by the Rotary Club Sevilla International was another example of the commitment of this organization with society and its interest in addressing important and current issues at each meeting.
